HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF

French Broad River Academy is partnering with Helene Rebuild Collaborative (hurricanehelenewnc.com) to aid in post-hurricane relief. Here's their statement from 10.6.24:

Eight days ago, one of the most devastating natural disasters tore apart the southern Appalachian region. In response, a few friends with a truck, barrels of water, and a desire to care for our neighbors took action. Friends from out of the region began bringing us truckloads of food and water. Donations and shipments poured in, and we realized we needed a community partner. French Broad River Academy opened its doors to become our base of operations for receiving and distributing essential resources and supporting those in need. And Hurricane Helene WNC was born. With access to the Maria Noakes Outdoor Center and a fleet of vans and trucks, our operations scaled quickly. We focus on connecting and collaborating with urban and rural communities in the WNC region. Whether it's essential resource drops to community centers, or mobilizing chainsaw crews to cut through the debris to make first contact with families isolated by the storm, we are committed to rebuilding resilient communities in post-Helene Appalachia.
