The turnout was great for last week’s back to school float and picnic. We started with the family-friendly float on the French Broad River to honor the life and legacy of Peter and Daniel Lucas, father and brother of FBRA founding board member Greg Lucas. This annual event raises funds for the Lucas Scholarship Fund, which is awarded to a student who demonstrates financial need combined with the desire to enroll for all three years at FBRA. The float was followed by a fried chicken potluck picnic for all families. It was an awesome afternoon and a great opportunity to connect with teachers, parents, and students, both new and returning. We love celebrating the back to school season in a way that gets us all out on the river!
