More About Grant: Grant is from Western New York where he started his outdoor career working as an instructor at Hawk Circle Wilderness Education. He explored many different areas of earth skills and later found his way to North Carolina to study two of his favorite subjects: Spanish and Outdoor Leadership. During college, Grant spent his weekends leading trips for Warren Wilson College’s Outdoor Programs and spent his summers back at Hawk Circle working as the Assistant Program Director. He also studied abroad in Puebla, Mexico expanding his understanding of Mexican culture as well as improving his proficiency in Spanish. After graduation, he continued to learn and grow through teaching timber framing workshops, running after-school programs for Hawk Circle, and traveling abroad in Latin America. After a couple of years of teaching in Central New York, he started working for the Alzar School leading expeditions in Chilean Patagonia and Idaho, while running the residence life portion of programming with a team of five other educators. During his summers, Grant continued to develop his Spanish language skills through traveling to Colombia, Argentina, and México, as well as translating on service trips for Helps International in Guatemala.

Grant enjoys playing sports, cycling, carving, and listening to Spanish audiobooks in his free time. He is very excited about teaching and can’t wait to bring his experience and creativity to the French Broad River Academy.
